Bandipora June 19: Javed Ahmad Dar, the Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Elections, today chaired a review meeting at Dak Bungalow Sumbal to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of the approaching Muharram.
The meeting was attended by the member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sonawari, Hilal Akbar Lone Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Qadri and all concerned district officers and local representatives.
The minister took a comprehensive review of the arrangements being made by various departments and emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination to provide all basic facilities during Muharram days.
The minister called upon the officers to maintain close liaison with local representatives and community leaders to address public needs effectively.
Meanwhile, Javed Dar laid special focus on ensuring an uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity, timely sanitation drives, deployment of health teams, and availability of essential items.
The minister also directed the concerned authorities to take up repair of roads along procession routes on a priority basis and ensure all street lights are functional in the identified areas.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri briefed the meeting about the district-level preparedness, informing them that action plans are already under execution, including sanitation drives, medical response team setups, road inspections, and firewood arrangements in coordination with local committees. Manzoor Ahmad Qadri assured that the administration is fully geared to ensure smooth observance of Muharram.
Police and civil officers present also shared updates on their respective action points and assured readiness for maintaining law and order and regulating traffic during the processions.
