Jammu, June 18: In a significant push to enhance J&K’s sporting infrastructure, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing developmental works at Khel Gaon Nagrota here. Stressing the urgency of timely completion, she directed concerned authorities to expedite construction to ensure the facility meets its potential as a state-of-the-art multipurpose sports venue.
Accompanied by Joint Director Jammu YS&S Dr Vinakshi Koul, Deputy Director (Planning) Ravi Sharma, Accounts Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma, and other key officials from the Directorate, Anuradha Gupta meticulously reviewed progress on critical projects, including the Hockey Turf, Synthetic Athletic Track, Cycle Track, and Multipurpose Hall—all of which are advancing at a steady pace.
Executive Engineer Sanjeev Sharma, along with Assistant Executive Engineer Gautam Raina, Junior Engineer Kunal, and Khel Gaon Incharge Vishal Bharti Slathia, were present on site, assuring the DG of their commitment to delivering the projects without delay.
Describing Khel Gaon as a cornerstone of the Department’s vision, DG highlighted its role as a vital hub for nurturing sporting talent. “This facility is not just an asset but a transformative space for athletes across disciplines,” she remarked. “With its multipurpose design, Khel Gaon can host multiple events simultaneously, maximising efficiency and fostering excellence.”
She reiterated the Department’s broader mission to elevate sports infrastructure at every level, ensuring accessibility and quality across the Union Territory. “The expansion and upgradation of Khel Gaon are pivotal to meeting the growing demands of our sportspersons,” she further added.
In addition to infrastructure development, Anuradha Gupta also reviewed preparations for the upcoming World Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, urging officials to organise a memorable and impactful event.
