Transport Commissioner Visits Pahalgam with RTO Kashmir Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Pahalgam: In view of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Transport Commissioner (TC) visited Pahalgam today, accompanied by the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, to review transport arrangements and interact with drivers and other key stakeholders at various taxi stands.

During interactions with local taxi operators and union representatives, the Transport Commissioner emphasized the pivotal role of the transport community in ensuring a safe, smooth, and welcoming experience for pilgrims and tourists.

> “Drivers are the first point of contact for visitors and serve as our true ambassadors. In the current scenario, their role becomes even more vital in building confidence and trust among yatris and tourists alike,” the Transport Commissioner stated.

He urged drivers to operate responsibly, strictly adhere to traffic and safety regulations, and follow the fare structure prescribed by the department. The Commissioner also informed that the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), along with his team, will be stationed at Pahalgam throughout the Yatra period to ensure effective implementation of these directives in letter and spirit.

The RTO Kashmir also addressed the drivers, urging them to remain vigilant, courteous, and fully compliant with safety protocols during the Yatra. He lauded their continued cooperation in maintaining discipline and ensuring smooth traffic flow.

Both officials reaffirmed the Transport Department’s full support to the transport fraternity and assured that all necessary assistance would be extended to facilitate seamless transport operations during the Yatra.

The visit concluded with a collective commitment to uphold the values of service, safety, and hospitality that embody the spirit of Kashmir.
