Baramulla: In order to review and finalize arrangements for the approaching Muharram observance across the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, Friday chaired a meeting at the DC Office, here.
The meeting focused on ensuring adequate facilities and services for the smooth holding of Muharram processions.
Key areas of discussion included traffic regulation, procession routes, supply of firewood and additional ration, sanitation and cleanliness of congregation areas, repairing of approach roads, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, availability of medical facilities, functioning of street lights, deployment of security personnel, placement of mobile toilets and provision of water tankers.
DC directed all departments to ensure timely and coordinated action. He emphasized uninterrupted electricity during procession timings, proper sanitation, and close engagement with community representatives to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram.
ADC Sopore, ADC Baramulla, ASP Baramulla, SDMs of Pattan and Gulmarg, SE JKPDCL, officers from various line departments, and public representatives attended the meeting and provided inputs to strengthen ground-level arrangements.
