Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti Friday visited Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar- the Amarnath Ji Yatra Jammu base camp and took stock of facilities and arrangements being put in place for the comfortable stay of the pilgri
The Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu along with Senior officials from CRPF, JK Police, Civil administration and HoDs took a round of the Yatri Niwas complex and assessed the pace and quality of ongoing works.
Chairing a meeting afterwards, the Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police conducted a thorough review of the arrangements made by the concerned departments. They issued necessary instructions for effective implementation of their respective action plans envisaging augmentation of civic amenities, security set up and improved services by using digital technology.
The Chief Engineer Public works department was asked to complete the construction of sentry posts as per the recommendation of the CRPF, besides installing langar sheds and german hangers inside the Yatri Niwas.
Commissioner JMC Devansh Yadav was asked to deploy adequate sanitation staff and toilets at key spots and start desiltation of the canal.
Director Information, Nitish Rajora was asked to explore the possibility of installing Speakers in the halls of the complex, besides a Public Address System for dissemination of information and advisories among the pilgri
The Inspector General of Police emphasized to encourage the pilgrims to undertake the journey with official Convoy and adhere to the Yatra cutoff timings. He called for using print, electronic and social media for informing the pilgrims about the cutoff timing and other advisories.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the JPDCL Jammu to expedite the illumination work in and around the Yatri Niwas and make available sufficient number of Generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Yatra. The JKRTC was asked to keep a close watch on the fitness of private vehicles to be used in Yatra Convoy.
The Health Department was asked to maintain sufficient stock of medicines, medical equipment, besides adequate number of ambulances and medical staff at the Yatra Base camp and other key locations.
The Fire and Emergency services department was asked to conduct fire drills and install a sufficient number of fire extinguishers and CCTV cameras at the langar sites and around the complex.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all the concerned officials to complete the works by June 20, including establishment of the control room with deployment of representatives and field staff from all concerned line departments.
