Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Thursday chaired a comprehensive meeting to review preparations for the upcoming International Yoga Day celebrations, set to be observed across the Kashmir division in alignment with the national event led by the Prime Minister of India.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, and officers from various departments including AYUSH, Health, School and Higher Education, Sports Council, Rural Development, Tourism, and the SKICC.
Addressing the officers, Div Com emphasized the importance of active participation and synchronization with the central event. He directed officials to ensure live streaming of the Prime Minister’s Yoga session at SKICC and in degree colleges to engage and inspire participants.
The main event will be held at SKICC on June 21, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Around 5,000 participants are expected to take part. AYUSH department has been tasked with arranging Yoga mats and T-shirts for attendees.
Div Com also instructed departments to ensure smooth transportation to the venue, along with the provision of drinking water, mobile toilet facilities and refreshments post-event.
Deputy Commissioners briefed the Div Com on district-level arrangements, including live streamings and the organization of Yoga sessions at tourist spots and other prominent locations.
In anticipation of inclement weather, Div Com stressed the need for a contingency plan to ensure that the celebrations continue seamlessly at all designated venues.
