J&K Swelters Again as Heatwave Continues, Srinagar Records 34.2°C

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir continued to endure scorching temperatures on Thursday, with many areas recording well above-normal temperatures while Srinagar recorded 34°C.

Data compiled by Kashmir Weather, as per news agency JKNS, Srinagar recorded 34.2°C, which is 6.2°C above normal, while Qazigund stood at 33.9°C (7.2°C above normal).

Pahalgam touched 29.0°C (5.3°C AN), Kupwara recorded 33.0°C (4.8°C AN), and Kokernag sizzled at 33.2°C (7.0°C AN). Even the popular hill station Gulmarg witnessed 24.8°C (6.0°C AN).

In the Jammu region, Jammu city saw a maximum of 43.6°C (4.8°C above normal). Katra recorded 39.5°C, while Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah all remained over 33°C, significantly above their seasonal averages.

In Ladakh, Leh registered 26.2°C, and Kargil recorded 26.8°C.

MET center Srinagar have advised residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions to cope with the ongoing heatwave. (JKNS)
