14-Year-Old Boy Dies After Drowning Darpora Kupwara

Kupwara, Jun 9 (JKNS): A tragic incident occurred in the Darpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday after a teenage boy drowned in a local stream.

Sources told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Imran Ahmad aged about 14 years and a resident of Najar Mohalla Darpora.

The boy drowned in the Khadkul stream near the Darpora dam according to locals, Nearby residents immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to retrieve the boy from the water, they said.

He was rushed to NTPHC Lalpora for treatment, however, doctors at the facility declared him dead on arrival.

Cognizance has been taken and further investigation started. (JKNS)
