Budgam: In a significant effort aimed to combat the menace of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among youth, Social Welfare office Budgam successfully organised a week-long series of sports and wellness activities under the banner of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.
The programme commenced with great enthusiasm through a Marathon/Run against Drugs, where scores of students, youth, and civil society members participated to spread the message of saying ‘No to Drugs and Yes to Life,’ witnessing encouraging participation.
On the second day, momentum continued with a variety of sports tournaments including volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, and several traditional and recreational games. These activities were aimed at channelising the energy of youth towards positive, healthy engagements while raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The third day was dedicated to Yoga and Meditation sessions, conducted in collaboration with the Youth Services & Sports Office and School Education department. Participants, especially school and college students actively took part in practicing various asanas and breathing exercises, reinforcing the importance of mental well-being in the fight against addiction.
The week-long campaign culminated with a vibrant Cycle Marathon and Paidal March against Drugs, which saw impressive participation from across the district. The concluding event sent out a strong and united message against drug abuse, underlining the community’s commitment to building a healthier, drug-free society.
This programme under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan marked yet another step forward in the district’s ongoing fight against substance abuse, promoting health, fitness, and social responsibility among the youth.
