Bandipora: In a strong show of community resolve against substance abuse, the District Administration Bandipora on Monday organized a mega marathon under the banner of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ drawing participation from hundreds of students across different educational institutions.
The marathon marked the beginning of a 26-day-long campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in Bandipora, in line with the broader initiative being undertaken across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The marathon flagged-off from Fisheries Hatchery Baapora Bandipora and culminated at DC office Bandipora, saw overwhelming enthusiasm from students, youth and government officials—all unified in their commitment to a drug-free future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, said, “Our collective fight against drug abuse begins with awareness and participation. Events like these not only raise consciousness but also build a shared sense of responsibility among our youth.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl, led the run from the front, underscoring the administration’s proactive and people-centric approach to addressing the drug menace. He emphasized the crucial role of community engagement in safeguarding the youth and transforming every citizen into an agent of change.
On the occasion, participants took an anti-drug pledge, vowing to stay away from substance abuse and work towards creating awareness within their communities.
