KULGAM, MAY 31: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation of PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli in the district.

The scheme aims to increase the share of solar roof top capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity and reduce the monthly billing with significant financial contribution from the government.

Executive Engineer KPDCL Kulgam while giving the powerpoint presentation apprised the chair that around 1954 applications have been received for registration in the district, with 62 solar plants already commissioned and seventy seventy 77 have been installed till date.

The chair was apprised that 42 domestic consumers who have opted for Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana have received 35.90 lacs of subsidy under the scheme till date.

DC took a comprehensive review of the progress made in installing rooftop solar systems across all electrical sub divisions in the district.

He underlined the numerous benefits of the initiative and urged KPDCL officials to intensify their efforts in raising awareness among the public about the advantages of installing rooftop solar plants besides meeting the targets well in time.

He emphasized the need for launching a mass outreach campaign to sensitize the public about the scheme and its financial and environmental benefits.

The meeting was attended by ACR, Ex. Engineers of KPDCL, LDM, JKEDA, all Tehsildars, BDOs, AEEs, AEs, District Officers and others.
