UDHAMPUR: The 2nd National Lok Adalat for the year 2025 was held here today under the Chairmanship and Supervision of Virinder Singh Bhou, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur and Dr. Smriti Sharma, Secretary DLSA for the settlement of cases.
In all 11 Benches were constituted across the District Udhampur with the main Bench consisting of Virinder Singh Bhou, Pr. District & Sessions Judge and Kamlesh Pandit, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur.
A total number of 1822 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 1483 cases were settled with Rs 30669792 realised as settlement amount.
The Bench No 2 consisted of Rekha Kapoor, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Pooja Raina, Sub Judge/Special Mobile Magistrate; Bench No. 3 comprised of Rishabh Koushal, District Mobile Magistrate (T) and Advocate Nikhileshwar Singh- Panel Lawyer; Bench no. 4 comprised of Akashdeep, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate and Advocate Malikarjun Singh Slathia, Panel Lawyer; Bench No 5 comprised of Suhasini Vasisatha, Chairman TLSC Majalta and Advocate Mohan Lal Gupta, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Majalta; Bench No. 6 comprised of Ravinder Singh, Chairman TLSC Chenani and Adv Balwan Singh, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Chenani, Bench No. 7 comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Chairman TLSC Ramnagar and Adv K.D Sharma, Ramnagar, Bench no 8 comprised of Jai Singh, Tehsildar Udhampur and Adv Akhil Khajuria, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Udhampur, Bench No 9 comprised of Satish Kumar, Tehsildar Ramnagar and Adv Vikrant Sharma, Advocate Ramnagar, Bench No. 10 comprised of Kamini Choudhary, Tehsildar Majalat and Adv Amit Sharma, Advocate Majalta and Bench No. 11 comprised of Pankaj Singh, Tehsildar Chenani and AdvAjmer Singh Katoch, Advocate Chenani.
278 cases settled at Samba Lok Adalat
As per the directions of Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority, 2nd National Lok Adalat for the year 2025 was today organised at District Court Complex, Samba.
The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by R. N. Wattal, Pr. District & Sessions Judge (also Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Samba).
Three benches were constituted for expeditious disposal of cases (Pre and Post Litigation); Bench No.1 consisted of R. N. Wattal, Pr. District & Sessions Judge (also Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Samba), Arvind Sharma, Addl District & Sessions Judge and Ajay Gupta, Advocate; Bench No.2 included Umesh Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Himani Parihar, Munsiff (JMIC) and Renu Bala, Advocate; Bench No. 3 consisted of Rashi Verma, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate and Ganesh Sharma, Advocate.
The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Bank Recovery matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Pre-litigation matters, D.V. Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, 125Cr.Pc. and Petty Offence(s) including traffic challans. Beside this, two more Benches were constituted for Revenue Cases, Cases under Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, petty loan cases, Public Utility Services related Cases and Compensation Cases pending in the Court of Assistant Labour Commissioner, Samba.
A total number of 278 cases were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 136 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 94,73,067/- was realized as settlement amount.
Second National Lok Adalat held at Ramban
As per NALSA’s annual Calendar of Activities and on the directions of J&K Legal Services Authority, Second National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 was held at District Court Complex Ramban and other Sub-ordinate Courts today.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Deepak Sethi, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority and the assistance of Priyanka Mahajan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority.
The Chairman inaugurated the Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex. He emphasized the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in ensuring quick and affordable justice.
Eight benches were constituted across all Courts of the District for amicable and speedy settlement of the cases.
A total of 1289 cases including 1227 Post-litigation and 62 Pre-litigation were taken up. Of these, 803 Post-litigation and 37 Pre-litigation cases were disposed of realizing a settlement amount of Rs. 1,08,76,319/ in Post-litigation cases. The total settlement award amounted to Rs. 2,09,23,820/.
