Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a mega roadshow here during his first visit to Bihar after the successful operation Sindoor carried out by the Armed forces to dismantle terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir..
Modi on day one of his two-day trip inaugurated the newly constructed terminal at Patna airport and also laid foundation stone for the new civil enclave of Bihta airport.
While the new terminal building of Patna airport has been constructed with expenses of Rs 1200 crores to handle one crore passengers annually, Bihta airport civil enclave to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1413 crores is equipped to serve 50 lakh passengers annually.
After the inauguration of the new terminal building and laying of the foundation stone of the new civil enclave, Modi started his roadshow from Patna airport and ended it at the state headquarters of the BJP on Veerchand Patel Road in Patna.
Modi, during his roadshow, went via Bailey road, passing through Sheikhpura Mor, J D Women’s College, Zoo, Rajbanshi Nagar, Patna Women’s College, Patna High Court and the Income Tax roundabout.
A large number of people patiently waiting for the PM, waved at him, with a majority of them holding aloft the tricolour.
Operation Sindoor was carried out to dismantle terror hideouts in Pakistan and PoK after terrorists gunned down 26 tourists in Pahalgam on April 22.
During the operation, airbases in Pakistan were also badly damaged.
Youths formed a major chunk of the large number of people who had gathered on the roadside to welcome PM Modi during his roadshow. Most of them were seen holding the tricolour. Placards with Operation Sindoor written on them were displayed by the people cheering PM Modi for his decisive leadership, which made the Operation Sindoor successful in dismantling terror hideouts in Pakistan, besides alsodamaging its airbases.
At the state BJP headquarters, Modi held a meeting with senior party leaders to discuss preparations for the Bihar assembly elections to be held in October-November this year.
Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal and other senior leaders of the party participated in the meeting with PM.
The PM will stay at Rajbhawan in Patna tonight and is scheduled to address a public meeting in Bikramganj in Rohtas district of Bihar on Friday.
During the public meeting, PM will lay foundation stones and launch several road projects and a power project worth Rs 50,000 crores.
Earlier, during his visit to Bihar on April 24, Modi had issued warning to terrorists and conspirators that they would be punished beyond their imaginations for the Pahalgam terror attack which had claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
Operation Sindoor was launched on the night of May 6-7 by the Armed forces.
