Kulgam: A free awareness and screening camp for patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, nasal, facial, and cranial deformities was successfully organized on Wednesday at District Hospital Kulgam.
The camp was held under the supervision of Dr AG Raina, Medical Superintendent, conducted by Maaya Cleft and Craniofacial Centre Srinagar, and headed by Dr Mohammad Shakeel, Head of Department Maxillofacial Surgery SKIMS Medical College Srinagar Bemina in collaboration with District Early Intervention Centre District Hospital Kulgam.
The initiative aimed to identify and support Children in need of corrective surgery and medical treatment, ensuring that patients, especially children, get access to life-changing healthcare services. 23 patients from district Kulgam attended the camp, wherein they received free medical consultations, screenings and expert guidance on further treatment.
Doctors and healthcare professionals conducted detailed examinations and provided counseling to patients and their families. Those in need of surgical intervention were enrolled for free treatment under the IHF program. The initiative is expected to bring hope and improve quality of life to many children affected by facial deformities.
Speaking about the event, Dr AG Raina emphasized the importance of early intervention and awareness in addressing facial deformities.
Families who attended the camp appreciated the efforts of the organizers, stating that such initiatives are crucial in providing accessible healthcare to underprivileged patients.
The event was also attended by DEIC staff and concluded with the felicitation ceremony among Health Service providers.
