Kulgam: AYUSH Department Kulgam in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Pombay Kulgam, on Wednesday organized day-long seminar on ‘Promotion & Conservation of Medicinal Plants and Developing Entrepreneurship in the Medicinal Plant Sector’ at KVK Pombay.
Programme was inaugurated and presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan.
The event witnessed participation from progressive farmers, agri-entrepreneurs and officials from allied departments.
In his address, DC highlighted the livelihood and income generation potential of traditional/ herbal medicines, and stressed the need for integrating modern agri-technologies.
He also emphasized the importance of linking farmers and youth with sustained technical support to develop a robust ecosystem for entrepreneurship in the medicinal plant sector.
Technical sessions were held during the seminar, where subject experts shared insights on best practices, marketing opportunities, and support.
Technical officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Medicinal Plants Board provided a detailed overview of the achievements and future roadmap for the promotion and conservation of medicinal plants, with a special focus on entrepreneurship development.
KVK Head, Prof Manzoor Ahmad Ganie assured full technical support and handholding to farmers and aspiring entrepreneurs in the medicinal plant sector.
Technical officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Medicinal Plants Board provided a detailed overview of the achievements and future roadmap for the promotion and conservation of medicinal plants, with a special focus on entrepreneurship development.
During the programme, multiple stalls showcasing medicinal plant products, farming tools and technologies were put on display.
Additionally, progressive farmers shared their success stories, inspiring others with their experiences and achievements in the field of medicinal plant cultivation.
ACR, Kulgam Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Nodal Officer AYUSH, Dr.Abdul Rehman and other officers also attended the programme.
