Modi to gift Rs 50 K crore projects to Bihar: Samrat

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will gift Rs 50 thousand crore in developmental projects to Bihar during his two-day visit to the state on May 29 and 30.

After reviewing the preparedness at Vikramganj and Patna Airport for the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister, Choudhary told news persons here on Tuesday that the preparations were in full swing. He said the Prime Minister will dedicate various projects, including new airports , roads, electricity and railways to Bihar to accelerate the development of the state.

Giving details of the projects, Chaudhary said that the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Bihta airport in Vikramganj being constructed at an expenditure of Rs 54 2.79 crore, and would inaugurate the newly constructed terminal of Patna Airport spread in 65 thousand 150 sq mt area. The number of flights would increase to 75 from 34, and the passengers capacity would also increase to 1 crore from 25 lakh after the new terminal becomes operational. The new terminal at Patna Airport has been constructed at an expenditure of Rs 1200 crore, he informed.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for construction of Super Thermal Power Plant at and expenditure of Rs 29947.91 crore in Nabinagar in Aurangabad. Nabinagar power plant, to be the second largest power plant of NTPC in the country would supply 1500 megawatt electricity to Bihar after completion.

He said that the other projects to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister include

Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four lane project (5519 crores), construction of four lane elevated highway, grade improvement in Gopalganj town on National Highway (NH)-27 (249 crores), automatic signaling of railway from Sasaram to Anugrah Narayan Road (25 km) Rs 43 crore, third railway line between Son Nagar-Muhammadganj (65 km, cost Rs 1338 crore), construction of hostel and staff quarters in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jehanabad (Rs 8 crore).

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the projects for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone include Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Phase-II (3×800 MW) at Rs 29948 crore, Patna-Ara-Sasaram section of NH-119A four-laning (Package-I and II) at Rs 3712 crore, six-laning of Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata section of NH-319B (Package-2 and 3) at Rs 2817 crore, six-laning of Varanasi- Ranchi-Kolkata section of NH-319B (Package-6 and 7) at Rs 3177 crore, construction of Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli on NH-922 at Rs 531 crore, six-laning of Ramnagar- Kachchidargah (section of NH-119D) at Rs 1083 crore and construction of five-terminal railway platform at Harding Park, Patna at Rs 95 crore.
