“We are continuously visiting various areas to assess the situation on the ground and identify what more needs to be done,” she said.

The minister visited a hospital where a newly established laboratory, built at a cost of over ₹3 crore, has been inaugurated. “Earlier, patients had to send their samples to GMC or SKIMS for testing, which took months to get results.

Now, with this fully functional laboratory, tests can be conducted locally and reports will be available within two to three days. This is a major step forward for the benefit of the local population,” she added.

Addressing the issue of doctor shortages, the Health Minister said, “For years, not much was done. We are now making every possible effort to address the shortage of doctors gradually.”

She also Said that all doctors who were previously attached elsewhere have been detached and directed back to their original postings to ensure better healthcare services for the people.

“Our focus right now is to have an adequate number of doctors in all health centers besides upgrading equipment and expanding healthcare facilities,” Sakina Itoo said. “Dialysis facilities will now be made available in Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) as well,” she added. (JKNS)
