Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir News Service (JKNS) issues this clarification concerning a news report published on May 22, 2025, titled “Cyber Police Arrest Two, Including Terminated Professor, Over Offensive Facebook Content.”

The report, filed by Aadil Abdullah—who was then reporting from Correspondent —contained inaccurate and unverified details that failed to meet JKNS’s editorial standards. Specifically, the report included misleading information about the individuals involved in the case.

We clarify that the individuals arrested by Cyber Police Station Srinagar are: Dr. Abdul Bari, a terminated professor, and Asifa Bashir, a journalist from Chattabal, Srinagar.

Aadil Abdullah is no longer associated with JKNS. The agency has taken necessary editorial measures to ensure such lapses are not repeated in the future.

JKNS remains committed to factual, ethical, and accountable journalism, and we regret any confusion caused to our readers.—(JKNS)
