Jammu: The Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Wednesday inaugurated a four-week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Program (ESDP) at Jammu, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. The initiative is funded by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, and implemented by the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The training program is being conducted at the Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu, and was formally inaugurated by Om Prakash Bhagat, Director, Skill Development Department, in the presence of Er. Neelanjana Manwati, Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu.
A total of 32 aspiring entrepreneurs are participating in this 104-hour intensive training program, which spans four weeks. The ESDP is part of a larger initiative being implemented across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among youth and equipping them with the necessary tools to launch and manage sustainable business ventures.
The curriculum includes comprehensive modules on enterprise management, marketing strategies, business simulations, market surveys, and field visits. This practical, hands-on approach is designed to build core entrepreneurial competencies, helping participants become self-reliant job creators in the Union Territory.
The inaugural session witnessed participation from faculty members of the Government Polytechnic for Women and officials from JKEDI, who engaged with the trainees and shared insights on entrepreneurship and innovation.
A Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative was prepared by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Secretary, J&K Atal Dulloo and the Industries & Commerce Department, led by its Commissioner/Secretary, Vikramjit Singh to help enhance the productivity and competitiveness of MSME sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
The proposal was approved by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), GoI. Accordingly, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has started the implementation of the RAMP initiative with the commencement of the Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programs (ESDPs) across the Jammu and Kashmir.
The Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) program is a Central Sector Scheme funded by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), GoI and supported by the World Bank.
