Cyber Police Arrest Two, Including Terminated Professor, Over Objectionable Social Media Content in Srinagar

Srinagar: Cyber Police Station Srinagar on Thursday formally arrested two individuals, including a terminated professor and Facebook Journalist “hawker,” for allegedly uploading and circulating objectionable content on social media platforms.

A police officer told Srinagar based news agency JKNS that the arrested persons have been identified as Dr. Abdul Bari terminated professor hailing from Bolsoo Kulgam and presently residing in Moomin Lane, Natipora Srinagar, and journalist Asifa Bashir, resident of Chattabal Srinagar.

“The duo has been booked for disseminating and uploading objectionable content concerning complainants on Facebook and other platforms,” they said.

Dr. Waseem was handed over to Police Station Shergari, while Asifa Bashir has been placed under custody at the Women’s Police Station Rambagh.

Cyber Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing and more details will follow. (JKNS)
