Kishtwar: A meeting of the District Advisory Committee on Accessible Elections was convened Tuesday in Kishtwar under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan (Chairman, DAC).
The committee aims to ensure the inclusion, support, and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the electoral process.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the importance of polling station-wise mapping of PwD electors to ensure accessible voting facilities.
The District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) was directed to compile and submit a comprehensive list of young voters who have attained the age of 18 years and have a disability of more than 40%.
Further, the Education Department and Higher Education Department was directed to conduct awareness campaigns across all Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges in the district. These campaigns will focus on identifying and facilitating the registration of eligible PwD voters who have attained the age of 18 years.
Daljeet Singh Parihar has been appointed as a member of the DAC for PwD voters.
The meeting was attended by ACR/Dy. DEO Kishtwar Idrees Lone, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed, DIO/Nodal Officer SVEEP Kishtwar Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dy. CMO Kishtwar Masood Ahmed Qazi, ENT Kishtwar Angraz Singh, Member DAC for PwD Voters Daljeet Singh Parihar, besides other concerned officials.
