Pulwama : As part of the ongoing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, District Administration Pulwama on Monday organised a series of impactful awareness programmes at various Panchayats across all blocks of the district.
The events witnessed active participation from officials of key departments including Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development and Police while representatives from Women Self Help Groups (SHGs), Panchayat representatives, civil society members, students and youth also attended the event enthusiastically.
During these programmes, resource persons sensitised the public, particularly youth, about the devastating effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities. Special emphasis was laid on preventive education, early signs of addiction, role of families in providing emotional support and the availability of rehabilitation services within the district.
Participants were also encouraged to act as ambassadors of change within their villages, promoting a drug-free lifestyle and spreading awareness among peers.
To strengthen the outreach, a wide range of IEC materials including posters, pamphlets, and booklets were also distributed among the attendees. The distribution of these informative materials aimed to ensure that the anti-drug message reaches every household and community in the district.
Besides, a collective pledge was also taken by participants, affirming their commitment to fostering a drug-free environment in their respective localities.
The IEC campaign under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan will continue with similar activities planned across both rural and urban areas and educational institutes in the coming weeks, with the aim of ensuring that every household is made aware of the menace and that affected individuals are guided towards timely help and rehabilitation.
