JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of Kaleeth, Battal, Kharah, Thakar, and Jogwan areas to assess the ongoing return and rehabilitation process of displaced border residents.
During the visit, Minister Sharma personally interacted with several families who have recently started returning to their homes after being displaced due to recent disturbances. He assured the residents of the government’s full support in ensuring a smooth and dignified return.
As part of the government’s immediate relief measures, around 500 essential ration and relief kits, facilitated in collaboration with a supporting NGO (Akshaya Patra) were distributed among the affected households. These kits include food supplies and other daily-use necessities aimed at supporting families during the transition period.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the visit, Minister Sharma said , “Omar Abdullah government is fully committed to the rehabilitation and welfare of every affected citizen. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure that no family is left behind and that their return to normal life is facilitated with dignity and compassion.”
He further emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between government departments, local administration and civil society organizations to ensure sustainable rehabilitation and long-term development of the affected regions.
The Minister also directed local officials to maintain regular communication with the returning families and monitor the progress of infrastructure restoration, health care availability and other essential services.
