Tehran/New Delhi: Amid closure of the Attari-Wagah land border check post following the tensions with Pakistan, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today spoke with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Ahmadian and stressed on the development of Chabahar Port and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
NSA Doval expressed India’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation—particularly in the development of Chabahar Port and the INSTC, during the phone talks.
He also thanked Iran for its continued assistance and support, an Iranian readout said.
Iran plays a leading and constructive role in the region and cooperation of the two countries will be increased, especially in the trade and economic sectors, Doval noted.
India believes that deepening relations between Iran and India is in the interests of the two nations and security of the region, he said.
Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, affirmed that Iran and India, as two ancient civilizations, share deep-rooted ties and vast potential for political and economic collaboration.
Important projects, especially the development of Chabahar Port, must be implemented in the shortest time possible, Ahmadian underlined.
He reiterated that bilateral cooperation serves the broader interests of regional peace and stability.
