Kashmir Apple Industry Sees Potential Turning Point as Boycott of Turkish Apples Gains Momentum: SBSP
FacebookTwitterWhatsappTelegram

Jammu, May 16 – Vivek Bali, State President Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), today welcomed the nationwide boycott of Turkish apples, seeing it as a potential game-changer for Kashmir’s beleaguered apple industry. The boycott, sparked by Turkey’s perceived vocal support for Pakistan during recent India-Pakistan tensions, has kindled hope among Kashmir’s apple growers who have long struggled against the influx of cheaper imported fruit.

Vivek Bali stated that this development could be a turning point for the local apple industry, which has been facing stiff competition from imported apples. “The boycott of Turkish apples is a ray of hope for our apple growers, who have been struggling to compete with cheaper imports,” he said. “This is an opportunity for our government to support our local farmers and protect their interests.”

Kashmir, accounting for nearly 70% of India’s total apple production with approximately 1.5 million metric tons annually, has seen profit margins shrink dramatically in recent years as markets became flooded with imported varieties. Vivek Bali urged the government to consider banning Turkish apple imports to protect the local industry, ensuring the prosperity of Kashmir’s apple growers.

“We need to support our local farmers and protect their interests,” Vivek Bali emphasized. “The boycott of Turkish apples is a step in the right direction. We hope the government will take further action to ensure the prosperity of our apple industry.” The development has sparked optimism among local farmers, who are eagerly awaiting government action to capitalize on the boycott’s momentum.

With the right support, Kashmir’s apple industry could regain its former glory, benefiting the local economy and farmers alike. SBSP under Vivek Bali’s leadership remains committed to advocating for the rights and interests of Kashmir’s farmers.
