DC Poonch tours market area, engages with public

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of the local market areas to review public facilities and ensure smooth civic operations.
Beginning his visit from the historic Qila Market, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by a team of senior officers, traversed the entire market stretch, interacting with traders, shopkeepers, and residents.
During the visit, Vikas Kundal took note of public grievances, sanitation conditions and traffic management in the area. He instructed the concerned departments to address key issues such as encroachment, waste disposal, and infrastructure maintenance on a priority basis. Emphasizing responsive governance, the DC assured citizens that regular inspections and direct engagement will continue to strengthen service delivery and transparency in the district.
He also inspected the condition of drainage systems and directed municipal authorities to expedite ongoing cleanliness drives. Several shopkeepers raised concerns about street lighting and parking facilities, to which the Deputy Commissioner assured prompt redressal. Highlighting the importance of public cooperation, he urged locals to maintain hygiene and support the administration’s development efforts.
As part of the outreach, the DC also held interactions with transporters, members of Beopar Mandals and other key stakeholders to understand their concerns and suggestions regarding urban mobility, market regulation, and commercial infrastructure. The tour witnessed active participation from officials of the Municipal Committee, and Revenue officers, who briefed the DC on current initiatives. The visit concluded with a commitment to regular outreach and stronger coordination between the administration and the public.
