Baramulla: Darul Uloom Sheeri, a prominent Islamic seminary in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has extended shelter and essential support to over 200 residents from the border areas of Uri, who were displaced due to recent cross-border shelling.
Details available with news agency JKNS revealed that the seminary has been providing food, accommodation, and basic necessities to these families for the last five days. The affected people, mostly from forward villages near the Line of Control (LoC), fled their homes amid heavy shelling by Pakistani forces in the Uri sector.
“We are trying our best to help these affected families by offering them shelter, food, and other essentials. They are our guests in this time of crisis,” said Sheikh Abdul Qayoom Qasmi, Muhtamim of Darul Uloom Sheeri, while speaking to JKNS.
Volunteers associated with the seminary are also coordinating daily support to ensure the well-being of the displaced families. Many of them continue to stay at the facility as tensions persist along the LoC. (JKNS)
