Karnah – The Karnah sector, situated near the Line of Control (LoC), has been under heavy shelling from the Pakistani army for the past three consecutive nights. The bombardment has caused significant property damage in several residential areas and has led to widespread panic, prompting residents to flee to safer locations.

On the previous evening, Pakistani Rangers once again targeted multiple areas in Karnah using heavy artillery. Local authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

Member of the Legislative Assembly from Karnah, Javed Ahmed Mirchal, shared on social media that the Kupwara district administration has arranged 20 vehicles to evacuate residents living close to the LoC. These vehicles are expected to reach Karnah shortly. He added that anyone wishing to relocate to Kupwara or Srinagar can use this transport facility.

In addition, arrangements have been made for offline ration distribution, and the public has been urged to collect supplies accordingly. Mirchal assured citizens that he is personally monitoring the situation and that his team will soon reach the affected areas. He encouraged people to contact him at any time without hesitation.

Meanwhile, SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jilani also visited the affected areas to assess both the damage and the security conditions. The ongoing shelling has created chaos and instilled fear among the residents, many of whom are now confined to their homes or have taken shelter in underground bunkers. An estimated 20,000 people have been displaced so far.
