Shopian: With an aim to empower women through knowledge and access to government welfare initiatives, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) Mission Shakti Shopian on Tuesday organized a comprehensive awareness programme at the Dunaroo Kellar ST area.
During the programme, participants were thoroughly sensitized about a range of welfare schemes aimed at improving the socio-economic status of women and girls.
Detailed awareness was provided on various central and UT-sponsored welfare schemes designed for the upliftment of women and marginalized communities. The team explained the eligibility conditions for availing different schemes and guided participants on the documentation required for smooth application processes.
Essential helpline numbers, including women helpline services and emergency support contacts, were shared to ensure timely assistance in distress situations.
The functioning and support services of the One Stop Centre were discussed, including legal aid, counselling, temporary shelter and police facilitation.
Information was also disseminated about government-sponsored skill training programmes to enhance employability and self-sufficiency among women.
On the occasion, women were encouraged to take up entrepreneurship and were informed about financial assistance, subsidies, and mentorship available under various schemes.
Emphasis was laid on the importance of women’s health, and the right to quality education for girls, along with details of health and scholarship schemes. The programme also covered social security benefits, including widow, divorce and old-age pensions, and financial assistance available under marriage support schemes for economically weaker sections.
The awareness initiative received active participation from the local community and was appreciated for its informative and inclusive approach.
