15 Bovines Rescued, 2 Smuggling Attempts Foiled by Jammu Police in Nagrota Sub-Division

Jammu: Police in Jammu on Tuesday said that two bovine smuggling attempts were foiled in the Nagrota Sub-Division under Operation Kamdhenu, with 15 bovines rescued and two vehicles seized by Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Police said that in the first case, an Auto Goods Carrier (JK02DB/3088) carrying four bovines was intercepted but driver, however, fled from the scene. Stating that in another similar incident, a truck (JK02CH/1985) transporting eleven bovines was also intercepted, and the driver here in this case too managed to escape Police in its statement further said that a total of 15 bovine animals were rescued, and both vehicles used in the illegal transportation were seized on the spot.
Police in its statement further said the cases under FIR No. 60/2025 and FIR No. 61/2025 were registered under Section 223 of BND and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, adding therein that further investigation of the case is underway. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to continue the ongoing efforts to curb bovine smuggling through strict enforcement of law.
