Anantnag, May 6 (JKNS): Authorities on Tuesday disallowed the functioning of four medical shops in the Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district for failing to implement digitized billing systems and for violating license conditions.

An official told news agency JKNS that a joint team of Drug Control Officers from Anantnag, along with health authorities from Verinag, carried out inspections at various medical establishments to ensure compliance with the mandatory computerised billing system and other regulatory norms.

During the inspection, chemists were also sensitized about the importance of maintaining digital records, ensuring proper storage of medicines, and keeping a check on the sale of disposable syringes, the official said.

“Four medical shops were barred from operating for not adopting the digitized billing system and for failing to meet the conditions of their licenses,” the official added.

Additionally, the official said that an inspection of the Cooperative Fair Price shop at Mattan was also conducted by a team comprising Drug Control Officers, health authorities, and officials from the Cooperative Society Anantnag.

“Standing instructions and directions regarding proper functioning of the shop as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act were given on the spot. Furthermore, the qualified person (QP) of the said firm was directed to prominently display discounts on medicines and surgical items in the interest of patient care, without any delay,” the official said. (JKNS)
