Jammu Police South Zone Books Repeat Offender Under PIT-NDPS Act, Lodges FIR in Udhampur Jail

Jammu : Police in Jammu on Thursday said that in a major crackdown on drug peddlers, Jammu Police South Zone has booked a repeat offender under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act . The said offender according to District Police Jammu has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu Police said that the accused, Rajan Singh @ Rahul Jamwal, S/O Ramesh Singh Jamwal, R/O Channi Rama, Tehsil Bahu, District Jammu, was apprehended by a police team of Police Station Channi Himmat led by Inspector Shariq Bhat (SHO PS Channi Himmat) under the close supervision of SDPO City East Jammu and SP City South Jammu.
Stating that the detention order was secured from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and the habitual offender was subsequently shifted to District Jail Udhampur Police in its statement further said multiple FIRs stand registered against the said drug peddler as he was actively involved in drug trafficking within the South Zone jurisdiction of District Police Jammu. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Jammu District Police reaffirmed its commitment to root out the drug menace and ensure the safety and well-being of the people through consistent and targeted action.
