Distt Level Advisory Committee reviews implementation of FSSA Act in Poonch

Poonch: A meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Safe Food and Healthy Diets was convened on Wednesday under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal at the DC Office Complex. The meeting focused on reviewing measures to ensure the quality of food in the district, emphasizing the effective implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA).
Key discussions included food safety measures, the role of various stakeholders, and the need for fast-track training and certification for food business operators, Anganwadi centres, and school cooks to ensure hygienic food services. The DC urged officers to maintain hygienic standards in food served at temples, ziyarats, and Gurudwaras.
Highlighting the importance of food safety for public health, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal instructed officers to ensure the availability of quality food in the market and to establish inspection squads to monitor and prevent the sale of unhealthy or expired products.
He also stressed on the promotion of the Eat Right movement and millet cultivation in the district.
The meeting was attended by GM DIC, PO ICDS Poonch, CEO, CMO, CAO, AD FSC & CA, and other key officials.
