Jammu : In line with its mission to make Jammu an Open Defecation Free (ODF) city, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is ramping up efforts to enhance sanitation infrastructure across all wards under JMC jurisdiction.
Addressing public demand and prioritizing hygiene and accessibility, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Devansh Yadav on Friday laid the foundation stone for a new public toilet complex at below bridge opposite Hanuman Mandir Ward No. 13.
The upcoming facility will include two bathrooms and eight toilets. It is part of a larger plan to construct 16 such public toilet complexes across Jammu city, with a total project cost of approximately Rs. 1.5 crore.
Strategically located near a bus stand, a Super Speciality hospital, and en-route to Jewel Chowk, the site has been chosen to serve a diverse group of users, including commuters, patients, pedestrians, and pilgri
The facility will be especially beneficial during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and for devotees visiting the nearby Hanuman Temple. Similar complexes would also be established of sanitation facilities to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers.
With this initiative, the JMC reaffirms its commitment to public welfare and sustainable urban development by ensuring essential sanitation amenities are accessible to all. This marks another significant step forward in Jammu’s journey toward becoming a fully ODF city.
