Udhampur, Apr 24 (JKNS): A soldier lost his life in an ongoing gunfight between terrioists and security forces in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur on Thursday. An Army official told news agency JKNS that based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched with Jammu and Kashmir Police in the area. “Contact was established and a fierce firefight ensued,” the official said. During the initial exchange of fire, one soldier sustained grievous injuries. Despite best efforts by the medical team, he later succumbed. The official added that the operation remains underway and further details will be shared as the situation evolves. (JKNS)
