Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are deeply saddened by the loss of three lives due to flash floods triggered by incessant rains in Ramban.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families stating, “I am deeply anguished by the tragic loss of precious lives due to the flash floods in Ramban. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected. I commend the district administration, State Disaster Response Force, and other rescue teams for their swift relief efforts. The government is mobilizing resources and seeking financial assistance from the Centre to ensure adequate relief for those impacted by this disaster.”
Omar Abdullah also extended his sympathies to the affected families, saying, “During this difficult time, our priority is to support immediate rescue efforts and coordinate with local authorities. I will personally oversee restoration, relief, and repair plans to address the situation on the ground. Citizens are urged to adhere to travel advisories and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas.”
Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary and MLAs Sajjad Shaheen have rushed to the district to assess the situation firsthand.
Additionally, Party leaders including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Addl GS Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Party MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Provincial Presidents Showkat Ahmad Mir and Ratan Lal Gupta, along with various party wings, have expressed deep sorrow over the devastation caused by the flash floods. They have called on the government to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation to those affected.
