DC B’am inspects progress on 13-Km Sitharan-Tosamaidan Road, new building of PHC Lassipora Drang

Budgam: In order to ensure better healthcare facilities and connectivity infrastructure in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo on Thursday undertook a comprehensive tour of the Khag area where he inspected the newly constructed PHC building at Lassipora Drang area and reviewed the ongoing work on the vital 13-km Sitharan-Tosamaidan road project.
During his visit to Lassipora Drang, DC inspected the shifting of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) to its newly constructed permanent building. The new PHC building is equipped with essential healthcare facilities including OPD, dental section, laboratory, general wards and a registration section.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the operationalization of the new healthcare infrastructure is a step forward in ensuring improved and accessible healthcare for the local population. He said the district administration is committed to completing all approved and sanctioned projects within stipulated timelines and dedicating them for public use at the earliest.
He directed the concerned authorities to ensure robust functioning of the new health centre and the delivery of quality health services to the patients.
Later, DC interacted with a local deputation, attentively listened to their issues, and assured that all genuine demands would be taken up with relevant departments for prompt redressal.
The tour also included an on-site inspection of the ongoing Sitharan-Tosamaidan road project, a 13-km stretch being constructed under NABARD funding.
While reviewing the project, DC emphasized the transformative potential of the road, stating that it will significantly enhance tourism opportunities in the picturesque Tosamaidan meadows and open up new livelihood avenues for the youth of Khag and adjoining areas.
“The completion of this crucial road will not only improve local connectivity but also serve as a catalyst for tourism growth and economic upliftment of the region,” the DC noted.
He further observed progress made on the works including protection and drainage works at various stretches. He also said macademization of the 7-km stretch will be started soon.
DC directed the executing agencies to expedite the remaining works while ensuring quality standards and timely completion of the project.
The DC was accompanied by SDM Beerwah, Chief Planning Officer Budgam, CMO Budgam, Tehsildar Khag, BMO Khag, Ex. Engineer R&B Beerwah and other senior district and sectoral officers.
