Fire Safety Mock Drill Held at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina

As part of Fire Safety Week, a “hands-on” Fire Safety Mock Drill was conducted at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina Srinagar on April 16, 2025. The event was a collaborative effort between the Fire and Emergency Services Department, SKIMS Medical College/Hospital Security, Hostel Division, and the Department of Community Medicine.

The drill aimed to raise awareness and build capacity among students, staff, and hostel residents regarding fire safety protocols and emergency response. Participants received practical training in managing various types of fire incidents, including electrical fires and LPG cylinder-related fires, along with detailed demonstrations on the correct use of fire extinguishers.

Expert demonstrations were carried out by Mr. Altaf Ahmad and Mr. Tanveer from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, who emphasized safety measures and response tactics critical in mitigating fire-related emergencies.

Prof. (Dr.) Fazlul Qadir Parray, Principal SKIMS Medical College, lauded the initiative and commended the organizing teams for their efforts in promoting fire safety awareness as well as giving training on initial management of small fire incidents.
