Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Tuesday chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at Police Control Room Srinagar to assess preparedness for upcoming events and ensure smooth coordination among various forces.

“Heightened vigilance is the need of the hour in view of potential threats,” IGP Birdi as per news agency JKNS said while addressing senior officers from BSF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, RPF, Railways Police, CID, SDRF and the Army. “We must strengthen our intelligence networks and secure vulnerable areas with effective domination.”

Calling for robust inter-agency coordination, the IGP added: “There must be synergy among all security and intelligence wings, especially during major events. Our emergency preparedness must be comprehensive.”

He directed officers to intensify patrolling, enhance visibility at key locations, and strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). “Unified and proactive efforts are essential to ensure safety and smooth conduct of events across the UT,” he said. (JKNS)
