Jammu: In a significant step towards strengthening the local infrastructure and promoting economic growth, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Saturday announced an allocation of Rs 1 crore for establishment of a state-of-the-art multipurpose marketing centre at Panjgrain, Nagrota.
The initiative, dedicated on behalf of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, aims to support locals of the constituency with a centralized platform for marketing and commercial activities.
Speaking at the event, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment towards holistic development of the J&K. He reiterated the Chief Minister’s vision of empowering communities through sustainable and inclusive initiatives.
The proposed marketing facility will be established under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) which will cater to diverse sectors and is expected to boost local trade and employment opportunities. The process for identification of a suitable place has been initiated and the facility will be established at an earliest.
“We are fully aware of the issues faced by people with respect to water supply, tankers and other daily issues. Steps are being taken to improve the lives of people and provide them with all the facilities” maintained the Minister.
He instructed the officers of Jal Shakti department to issue notices to the contractors who have adopted a lackadaisical attitude in implementation of government schemes and projects. He said that any contractor failing to perform his job efficiently would be blacklisted.
He further asked the Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control to explore options for construction of check dams, lift irrigation in the area for benefit of the people.
The Minister also said that Forest Rights Act will be implemented in entire Jammu and Kashmir in totality facilitating the tribal community.
