Baramulla : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Friday chaired an important meeting to review the proposed alignment of the Sopore–Kupwara railway line, a key connectivity project in north Kashmir.
The meeting was informed that the proposed alignment has been carefully planned to minimize the impact on horticultural land and avoid existing structures to the maximum extent possible. The Northern Railway officials presented detailed maps and technical plans to support their assessment.
DC emphasized the need for a balanced approach that ensures development while safeguarding public interest. He instructed the concerned departments to maintain coordination and ensure that land acquisition and other procedural aspects are handled smoothly and transparently.
The Sopore–Kupwara railway line is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of the area.
The meeting was attended by ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; ADC Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain Musvi; senior engineers and consultants from Northern Railway, besides other senior revenue officers of the district.
