Srinagar: Police on Thursday attached property of a notorious drug peddler worth lacs in Sopore.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the attached property includes two storied commercial building, one storied bakery workshop and second storey of residential house valued around approximately ?45,19,816/- located at Mazbugh Sopore, adding therein that these properties have been attached under the NDPS Act 1985.
Police in its statement further said that the attached property and belongs to a drug peddler namely Firdous Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohiudin Bhat R/o Mazbugh Sopore. Police in its statement further said that the property was acquired by the drug peddler from the proceeds of narcotics. “The inquiry revealed that the said immovable property was raised from Illicit Trafficking by the drug peddler”, reads further the above referred police statement.
Stating that by targeting and freezing the illegal assets of drug peddlers/smugglers involved in the organized illegal narco trade, Policein the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that it has dealt a severe blow to criminal activities of the said drug peddler besides taking key steps to curb the influence of drug peddlers and crippling the drug trade in the valley.
