Lt Col Sheldon Misquith Visits Karnah; Interacts with NCC Cadets at AGS Hajinar, GDC Tangdar, and Local Schools.

Karnah, Kupwara: In a significant outreach aimed at encouraging youth engagement and promoting the spirit of national service, Lt Col Sheldon Misquith, the Second-in-Command of 7 J&K Battalion NCC Kupwara, visited Karnah and interacted with NCC cadets across multiple educational institutions, including Army Goodwill School (AGS) Hajinar, Boys High School Tangdar, Kandi Higher Secondary School, and Government Degree College (GDC) Tangdar.

The visit witnessed active participation from cadets and staff, offering an opportunity for inspiration, guidance, and motivation to young minds.

At AGS Hajinar, Col Misquith was warmly welcomed by ANO Rayees Alam and Principal Aftab Khawaja, who jointly presented a memento to the visiting officer. ANO Rayees highlighted the school’s consistent involvement in NCC activities and its role in shaping disciplined, socially responsible students. Cadets of AGS displayed drills and shared their experiences, receiving praise from the officer.

The visit continued at Boys High School Tangdar, where Col Misquith interacted with cadets under the guidance of ANO Iftikhar Ahmad Lone. The Headmistress of the school joined in presenting a token of appreciation, followed by the signing of the visitor’s diary. The officer commended the cadets for their discipline and urged them to stay committed to national service. A bouquet of flowers was also presented to honor his visit.

At Kandi Higher Secondary School, Principal of the school and ANO Khursheed Ahmad received the officer and accompanied him during his interaction with the cadets. The officer appreciated the school’s dedication to NCC and the enthusiasm of its cadets. He spoke about the importance of leadership, teamwork, and the opportunities that NCC offers to rural youth.

Later, at Government Degree College (GDC) Tangdar, the officer was received by Dr. Bilal Sheikh, the college’s Associate NCC Officer (ANO). A formal interaction took place in which cadets discussed their aspirations and received valuable insights from the officer. Dr. Sofi emphasized the college’s growing involvement in NCC training and personality development initiatives.

In his address, Lt Col Sheldon Misquith stated, “NCC is a platform that transforms youth into leaders, patriots, and contributors to society. I am truly impressed with the spirit and energy of the cadets here in Karnah.” He appreciated the dedication of all ANOs for their unwavering efforts in guiding the next generation.

The visit concluded with a message of unity, discipline, and national pride, leaving behind an atmosphere of inspiration and motivation among the cadets and educators alike.
