Poonch : In a proactive approach to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual Baisakhi festival, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, along with concerned officers, visited Shiromani Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib on Wednesday. The visit included a crucial meeting with Mahant Manjeet Singh to discuss the arrangements needed for the festival.
During the meeting, the members of the management committee of Dera Santpura Nangali raised several important issues seeking adequate provision for drinking water, proper lighting, sanitation, security and a parking facility. They also highlighted the urgent requirement for repairing potholes on the main road leading to Nangali Sahib.
Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner assured the committee that necessary security arrangements would be made and directed the ARTO to ensure organized vehicle parking during the festival. He directed for deployment of water tankers on the day of Baisakhi and instructed the Power Development Department (PDD) and Jal Sahakti to guarantee sufficient power and potable water supply.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner called on the Executive Officer of the municipality to repair all non-functional street lights and install additional lights as required. He emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in and around places of worship and areas of congregation.
To bolster security, police officials were tasked with ensuring foolproof arrangements during the festival.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner inspected vehicle parking sites.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tehsildar Haveli, ARTO, XEN PHE, XEN PDD, EO Municipality, XEN PWD (R&B), along with the president of DGPC, the Manager of Nangali Sahib, members of Ramdas Sewa Society, General Secretary DGPC, and other distinguished members of Dera Nangali Sahib.
