Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has apprehended two drug peddlers in Anantnag and also seized significant quantities of contraband substances in two separate actions.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs a checkpoint was established by a police team of Police Station Aishmuqam at Bashnaar and during checking, one Muzaffer Ahmed Shah S/o Latief Shah R/o Hardkichloo Aishmuqam was apprehended and during search, approximately 10 Kgs, 270 grams of Charas Powder was recovered from his possession. Stating that a case under FIR No. 11/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Aishmuqam besides initiating further investigation Police in its statement further said that in another similar action, a police party from Police Post Khanabal apprehended one Khayam Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Gani R/o Batangoo, at Shohal Batangoo and during searches recovered 7 Kgs of poppy straw from his possession.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to its zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking and also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or other anti-social activities in their areas.
