Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has apprehended a drug peddler and also seized a significant quantity of contraband substance in Boniyar area of district Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during the intervening night of 7th and 8th April a police party deployed at Bernate Bala, Boniyar intercepted a suspect identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir S/o Late Hafiz-Ullah Mir R/o Bernate, Boniyar and during search recovered 1.216 Kg of contraband substance, believed to be Brown Sugar and digital weighing machine from the possession of the said accused, Stating therein further that the said accused was subsequently arrested.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 25/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Boniyar besides initiating further investigation to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal narcotics network and to trace the source of the contraband Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to continue fight against the drug menace and appealed people to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling in their areas.
