Jammu: Police in Jammu on Monday said that a miscreant involved in a sword attack in Jewel Chowk area was apprehended within 24 hours, and the weapon of offence was also recovered.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said that on 3rd April onme Mohinder Singh S/O Khajan Chand R/O Krishna Nagar, who runs a tea stall near St. Peter’s High School, Jewel Chowk, approached Police Station Nowabad with a written complaint. The complainant, according to the police statement, alleged that at around 8:30 PM, one Raghubir Sharma S/O Lt. Krishan Lal Sharma R/O Resham Ghar Colony, Bakshi Nagar, entered his shop with a sword, assaulted him, and abused him, Stating therein further that a customer, Sunny Kumar S/O Ram Lal, who was present at the time, was injured in the attack while Mohinder managed to escape.
Police in its statement further said that as locals gathered after hearing cries for help, the accused fled the scene with the weapon following which a case (FIR No. 44/2025) under Sections 333/115(2)/352/351(2) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Nowabad besides launching a full fledged investigation . Stating that a special team led by SHO Police Station Nowabad Deepak Pathania, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters and SP City North Jammu, swiftly apprehended the accused, Police in its statement further said that during questioning, the accused confessed the crime, and the sword used in the offence was recovered.
