Occupied Jerusalem: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a ground operation early Friday morning in northern Gaza to expand the security zone, said the military.
During the operation in Shejaiya, Israeli troops killed Hamas fighters and dismantled what the IDF said was military infrastructure, according to the IDF statement.
The Israeli army has struck over 600 targets in Gaza and killed 250 Hamas militants since it renewed hostilities in Gaza on March 18, IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin said Thursday.
In a separate incident on Thursday, the IDF said that its combat intelligence fighters killed one Palestinian and injured another after they threw rocks at a road near Bethlehem in the West Bank. UNI XINHUA
