DC Shopian convenes District Road Safety Committee meeting

Shopian: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta, who is also Chairperson District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) convened a meeting of the DRSC in Mini-Secretariat Shopian on Tuesday to strategize and implement effective road safety measures.
During the meeting, DC emphasized the need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach aimed at inculcating responsible road behaviour and averting road mishaps.
Various aspects such as building road infrastructure, traffic management, public awareness campaigns, and enforcement of traffic rules were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, thorough discussions were held to identify and incorporate measures necessary to prevent accidents across the district. Comprehensive presentation on working of Integrated Road Accident Database (i-RAD) and Electronic Detailed Accident Report (e-DAR) was presented on the occasion where the significant role of the i-RAD portal in analyzing causes of road accidents and formulating preventive measures for saving precious human lives was highlighted.
With an aim to educate responsible road behaviour, DC assigned the responsibility of conducting district-wide road safety awareness campaigns at the school level.
Meanwhile, DC issued stern directions to MVD to streamline and regulate the operations of the sumo stands across the district, ensuring strict accountability measures are in place to promote responsible transportation practices.
SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali; ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; ARTO, CMO, CEO, Xens R&B, Project Director, NHAI, DIO and others concerned were present.
