JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today called on protesting PHE daily wagers in Jammu to end their agitation, assuring them that the government has already constituted a high-level committee to devise a roadmap for their regularization.
Responding to demands from opposition BJP members for a government statement on the issue, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to resolving the matter.
“If we did not intend to talk to the daily wagers, we would not have set up a committee. The committee was not formed in response to protests or agitation. What is surprising is that the protest began after the committee was constituted,” he stated.
Hitting out at the opposition, the Chief Minister said his government would look into the reasons behind the protests and those responsible for instigating them.
“The opposition has been demanding justice for daily wagers. By doing so, you are admitting that in the last 10 years, there has been no justice for them,” he remarked.
